I make comics. And thanks in part to a moral panic in the 1950s, mainstream American comics suffer from some of the most innovation-resistant stagnation imaginable. But thanks to the internet, webcomics, the advent of crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter, the genre has never been more open, or more diverse. Major publishers have begun to exhibit guarded interest in exploiting this is pool of talent. I want to tell you why they are now the last thing you need.
There are still too many artists, comic and otherwise, convinced they need a guy in a suit handing them a check before what they do can qualify as a career. I need to make you understand the guy in the suit just became obsolete.
I'm a cartoonist. So, naturally, there's gonna be art involved. Live-drawing, if possible.
