The TedxUChicago Speaker Challenge

Whether you are a student, researcher, surfer, philosopher, CEO, or a college-dropout/entrepreneur, you have something interesting to say—an idea worth spreading. Tell us about small-scale activities that you think could make a BIG impact on the world. How can you help people make a difference in a manageable, inspiring, and engaging way? Share one idea you’re passionate about and what small changes can be done to make a BIG impact in how people learn about, understand and approach your idea. This is your chance to share your vision for how small changes can make all the difference in an 18-minute TED-like talk at the TEDxUChicago in 2013.

TEDxUChicago is a local, independently organized event at The University of Chicago that strives to re-create the unique experience found at TED, where the world´s leaders, thinkers and doers congregate to share what they are most passionate about.

Submission tips:

• Include a photo or video that represents your idea. Photos should be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format, at least 570 X 345 pixels and no larger than 10MB. To include a video, use a YouTube URL.
• Describe your idea, and why you want to share it with TEDxUChicago in 2013.
• We’re looking for the “WOW factor.” We want to hear about ideas that are big, disruptive, and creatively delivered. How will your story inspire others?

• This challenge is open for submissions from April 29 noon PT to May 17 noon PT. Submissions sent outside of this time frame will not be eligible.
• Public voting will be open from May 17 noon PT to June 4 noon PT.
• The winner will be announced on June 7.
• This challenge is open to the general public. Applicants must be 18 years or older and U.S. residents to participate.
• Prize for first-place winner: Speaking engagement at The 2013 TEDxUChicago Conference and, if the winner is not local to the Chicago area, travel to Chicago for the conference including round-trip airfare and one night of hotel accommodation.
